Using Estimates as Templates

Can you use an estimate as a template? This is a question our support team gets quite often, and the answer is yes, you can! Estimates are templates by nature when you use the Duplicate Project button. This allows you to send an already built estimate to a new customer, whenever you want! This is a great feature to avoid the legwork for repeat type estimates. Don't worry, the original estimate will be left intact.

To execute this process, first, create your new customer. Then, head into the Project you would like to duplicate and scroll past your estimate. Near the bottom and in the middle of your screen, you'll see a button called Duplicate Project.

Select the customer you would like to send the project to and click Ok. The estimate will then copy and paste to a new project under your selected customer. It's as simple as that!

Some folks are dealing with hundreds of clients in their Clear Estimates database. So what gives when you have to search through that database just to find an estimate to duplicate? Good question. What many users are doing is creating a customer called Template. This allows you to easily find any kind of template you might be looking for, all under the same customer. So, anytime you have an estimate that you feel could be duplicated, send it to your new customer, Template. That way, when the time comes, you'll easily be able to locate all of your estimate templates!

Here is an example of what that might look like.

Hope this helps!
