Green Features Becoming More Popular Among Homeowners
Green housing is big right now, and that might just be an understatement. Green features have been around for years, but it appears they are just now becoming “the thing”. According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), 56% of home buyers are interested in green (sustainable) features when purchasing a home. 71% of real estate agents noted that simply promoting energy efficient features in home listings was valuable. It’s no secret that energy efficiency is the new craze, and it’s for good reason I might add. Sustainable technology is not only good for the planet, but it can save you a great deal of money too. Cutting a percentage off your monthly energy bill adds up to quite a bit of cash in the long run.
Contractors, the real question is, What’s all of this mean to me? Use this as a means to upsell. This is your opportunity to sell the client on energy efficient products and projects. Energy efficient light bulbs, smart-home technology, water conservation, renewable energy systems, solar panels, it’s all on the table and it’s all fair game. The largest sustainable investment a homeowner could make though is solar. Solar is becoming more popular with 80% of real estate agents noting it is available in their market and 42% saying that solar increased a property’s value. Solar is a great asset to pitch to a potential client as an add-on to a remodel.
Show the client you understand the value these features will add to their home. Show them the data and they will be impressed. In this industry, it’s all about closing. The client has many options when it comes to contractors, separate yourself from the pack. Show them you know how to add value to their home.
