The U.S. economy continues to strengthen as we see yet another solid month for job gains. United States unemployment is now at a 16 year low. What does this mean for our industry, though? Well, we have some pretty good news! Rising home sales are giving way to more hiring for residential contracting work. This includes all trades from handymen to remodeling to new home construction. The residential area is flourishing and we now have some data to prove it. According to the last jobs report, another 5,100 jobs were adding to our sector in May. This marks the 9th month in the last 10 to see positive gains. Since 2011, our sector has added roughly 500,000 jobs, a 32% increase. Check out the chart on employment below.
